Welcome to the web site for the Anderson Fire Protection District. This web site illustrates the various activities undertaken by the dedicated men and women of our organization. You will be able to explore three divisions within the Department: Fire Administration, Fire Operations and Training, and Fire Prevention. Through these divisions, we provide the services our community has come to expect throughout our one hundred eighteen years of service.

The Department has six full time, one part time, one extra help, and twenty volunteers that serve approximately ten square miles and a population of approximately 11,000 which includes the City limits of Anderson. The Department has two fire stations of which only one is staffed with personnel twenty four hours a day. The fleet consist of eleven pieces of equipment including: Three type I engines, One type II engine, Two  type III engines, One water tender, One breathing support, One Hazardous Material Decontamination Trailer and Two pick-ups and one Van.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONSE
As with most fire departments, the Anderson Fire Protection District responds to a high volume of medical calls. Approximately 75 percent of all calls for service are medical calls. The standard response is one engine. All personnel are trained to First Responder level as a minimum. Additionally, all personnel are qualified to operate semi-automatic defibrillators carried on each engine. The Department fills the need for First Responder as the local ambulance companies provide advanced life support and patient transport.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS RESPONSE
Anderson Fire Protection District participates in a regional hazardous materials response team. The Shasta Cascade hazardous Materials Response Team is a cooperative team covering six Northern California counties. All personnel are trained to meet mandated requirements for the Hazardous Materials Operational Level and are trained on the Department Decontamination Trailer.  We have two personnel trained as Hazardous Materials Technician and Specialist.

FIRE PREVENTION BUREAU
The Fire Prevention Bureau is responsible for administering a wide range of activities. It is staffed with two personnel that oversee vegetation management/weed abatement, Public Education, Plan Review(s), Fire Investigation, Company Inspections, Commercial and Residential Fire Sprinkler inspection/testing. In addition to these programs they inspect licensed care facilities, inspections of newly opened businesses, and occupancies requiring California Fire Code permits.
