Police Department D.U.I. Checks
The Anderson Police Department's DUI check points are up and running. The department has conducted several check points and will continue conducting them throughout the year. The department also received an additional Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) Grant. This grant will provide a full-time motorcycle officer for traffic enforcement in the city. The Grant will take effect October 1st, 2004.

COP Program
The department's COP Program (Citizen On Patrol) is going strong thanks to Officer John Nevens. There are now 19 members assisting the department in several areas. Officer Nevens is planning on holding another COP Academy at the end of the year. Anyone interested in the program can contact Officer John Nevens at 378-6600.

Neighborhood Watch and Business Watch Program
Are you interested in making your neighborhood and community safer? Help the Anderson Police Department reach the goal of making your city safer.

Join the Neighborhood Watch Program and help the Anderson Police Department create an environment in which people watch out for each other in the neighborhood and in the community as a whole.

By assisting the Police and your neighbors, you can reduce the opportunities for criminals. You are the eyes and ears of your neighborhood. Only you can recognize who does and does not belong in your area. By reporting suspicious persons or circumstances you observe, you are making a statement to criminals that they are not welcome in your neighborhood.

We at the Anderson Police Department look forward to working with you in the future. If you are interested in becoming a part of the Neighborhood Watch Program or the Business Watch Program, you can contact Officer Regina Collier at 378-6600.

Remember…
Under 18 years of age you must wear a helmet when riding your bike, scooter or skateboard on the streets. Everyone must a wear helmet, knee pads and elbow pads at Anderson Skateboard Park.
